most of time for a B visa holder (i guess this is the case you are taling
about), except repeated visits in short time or those people having
application records of extension of stay, the permitted stay is M+6, D-1,
howevert, no guarantee! there are lots of examples in which 1~3 days less
were given, so NEVER guess it is 180 days, or 183 days or defination of "6
months", NEVER purchase fligt tickets on the last day, you have high risk to
get trapped and cry here. LOTS LOTS of stories were reported here almost
every week.
