month stay is granted. On the I-94, the immigration officer will stamp a
date that's one day short of 6 month. In other words, if someone enters US
today (9/21/2011), the datestamp on I-94 (assuming a 6-month stay is granted
) should show 3/20/2012.
6-month stay is the maximum (unless someone applies for extension). I haven
't heard anyone who got 1-year. 1-year refers to the expiration on the visa
. In other words, there is no need to apply for another visa if a traveler
enters US again within a year.
Writing a letter on your parents should help. I have done that before. My
letter basically covered what you have described (e.g., the return ticket is
in 6 months, travel plan, etc). |
