The basic difference can be seen in their purposes and the resulting
appropriate levels of support stability and cushion.
An "all terrain" shoe is based on a classic running shoe design:
- Higher-heel, lower-footbed (for forward rocking-movement)
- Cushion in Heel and Ball-of-foot
- Roll-up toe
- Flexible forefoot
Additionally, "all terrain" shoes offer a more aggressive outsole tread for
better traction and some models also offer a solid-plate in the midsole |
