this time but ended up with 47:17. My excuse is the crowd. Part of the
course overlaps with 5k walk. It was impossible to pass the thick crowd. It
was pouring when I drove to UW stadium this morning, with strong wind. A
little chilly, but not freezing. Glad that the pouring rain became drizzling
when the race started and stayed that way during the race. The road was
full of small ponds though.
Mile 1 was fun, I was going a little faster than expected, 6:52. I then
slowed down for the next 2 miles to 7:30. Mile 4 is where there is 2 decks
of stairs and the course overlaps with the 5k walk crowd. The split was 8:40
, which was terrible. I knew it was impossible to break 46 at that moment.
Then the courses split up and I did a 7:15 mile. Unfortunately, the course
merged again in the last mile. I was cutting back and forth in the crowd and
was stopped a couple times by the 4-legged variety :). The last 200 meters
was on the track and I felt quite strong and sprinted to finish. The
official time is 47:17, overall 158th place among 1077 finishers. Despite
the crowd, I am probably still 2 minutes from where I was 3 years ago. Now
it's time to pick up weekly mileage. |

if you can lose 15 pounds, if 1 pound buys you 5 seconds, then each mile
you will save 75 seconds for 15 pounds, that's 450 seconds, 7.5 minutes
less, which means you will get under 40 minutes. hehe.

今天特神了..只有你们跑的一个小时完全没有下雨刮风..后面的人估计落汤鸡了..
我看了5k起跑..那个第一名的哥们太神奇了..前400米就领先别人好多..起跑就好像在
冲刺一样..我感觉去了趟bathroom的功夫回来拿出ipod刚要玩他就进来冲刺了..
10k的都soso...我坐在看台上默念三字经..nnd..本来我今天也可以跑..

the length. It was way too short, at least 500m. Nevertheless, I am happy to
be able to hold on to a sub 7 pace on this touch course with a hair pin
turn, a bunch of 90 degree turns, some long hills, and a flight of stairs.
