ok i need to explain. it's not stupidity, it's the priority. this guy just
see rock climbing as more important than life. like for me, i can't
understand people who want to run leadville, that's like suicide to me, but
to them that experience is more important than life. life provide you a
chance to do the things you really want to do, if you don't even try, then
what's the point of your life?people just have different goals, for most it'
s to live a long and healthy life, for some this is not the goal it's only
the tool which help them to achieve their real goal.
in this book the boy used to have a normal life but he was depressed, in his
life he never feel happy, then he commit suicide, but what saved, but the
NDE completely changed his perspective to life. he become a calm happy
person, he begin to see life as adventure, nothing to be afraid of. when he
was technically dead, he suddenly feel free and calm and happy, and he begin
to realize we'll never die, our little body is just a shell for some bigger
and powerful thing.then he's not afraid of death any more. if a person is
not afraid of death, he basically won't be araid of anything right? also he
have some interesting perspective:your body is not more solid than air, they
are all just molecules and even smaller particles which keep moving fast
around, so basically the solid thing we see is mostly made up by empty space
. hmmm, that's kind of true, right? so he said :everything is actually an
illusion, what you are looking at is mostly empty space.so why are you
afraid of illusions?
这本书是关于rock climbing的，我觉得特别好，是因为它提供了一种全新的视角，很
震撼，书里面讲述的有很冒险的rock climbing，因为我描述不当，饼干桶以为书里面
的人只是stupid teenager，我觉得上面这段话更好地概括了这本书的精髓。是本小说。
anyway, i think crazy runners and crazy rock climbers have something in
common. LOL |

more dangerous situation(ok maybe sometimes), on the contrary this help him
stay calm all the time to figure out how to survive. |

发帖数: 13580 | 4 oh no, this I have to beg to differ. there is a saying every climber knows:
there is old climbers, there is bold climbers, there is no old and bold
climbers. fear is not your enemy, it's your friend, it's what keeps you sane
and alive. for a climber, fearlessness is stupid, period. there is
fundamental difference between climbing and running. climbing is a 0 error
tolerance sport, at least when you do alpine climbing and you climb hard
enough. there is a very low margin of error and when you make a mistake, the
price you pay is too high. Hundreds of accidents happen every year and I
have read all reports in the past 10 years published by American Alpine
Association. It is very thrilling to read those stories, there is no happy
ending. But the fear I get from reading them is what keeps me cautious and
alive.

humans would ran badwater which is way much hotter than 95.i can never
understand THAT kind of extreme sports, but i admire those crazy people for
reason which i can't explain
