to me the bottom line is denying the theory of evolution and insisting on
teaching intelligent design in schools. however, Palin actually supports
teaching evolution, contrary to perhaps the belief of many liberals.
Christine O'Donnell and Glenn Beck have crossed that line, so they are
stupid in my dictionary.:)

说是自然而然的，我想不能因为一个人的信仰就认为他/她是愚蠢的。
进化论的确没有经过实验证明，我个人认为还不是科学，还只能说是一种理论。如果有
一天人们实现宇宙航行，找到一个可以适合地球生物生活的星球，或许可以做个试验，
在上面放养地球生物或观察那个星球上的生物，看看数十万年后是否出现了新的物种。
或许我的想法很愚蠢，不过自认为还算至少是独立思考，呵呵

atheist myself, I generally respect religious people, including my wife (who
is pagan). In fact, I have colleagues who are well respected scientist and
yet deeply religious at the same time.
Secondly, let me remind you the evidence for evolution -- fossils, which can
be dated by measuring radiative isotopes. You want living evidence of
evolution? Well, the cold and flu virus around you are living evidences --
they mutate on a yearly or even monthly basis.
Now, to advocate the teaching of intelligent design in schools is a
completely different story. That is because intelligent design is not a
scientific theory at all. It tells you to stop ask questions instead of
looking for evidences.
Most people in this world are not that intelligent. Being stupid by itself
isn't a sin. It is those who spread stupidity that is guilty.

No. Do you have any friends who have seen it? No. What you have seen are
documentations, sculptures dug up from under the ground. How do you know
these are real? Perhaps there was a huge conspiracy and some underground
society just forged all the evidences? Of course, that is unlikely, but
there is a chance. In that sense, you don't know 100% sure that the Roman
empire existed. But you have enough evidence to believe it.
Similarly, evolution, as a theory, can never be 100% proven. But there are
LOTS of evidences. In fact, we don't understand the theory fully, but at
least people are trying to make progress both by collecting more evidences
and by studying the theory via mathematical models (of genetic mutations for
instance). It is one thing to doubt evolution, it is another thing to
dismiss evolution because of one's belief in creationism.

chapter you want to look at. The fact many other cultures were
destroyed by Islam world doesn't prove it's backwards. Instead, it's a
good proof it's strong and advanced comparatively. Why they can build
empire after empire and got into a fight with Christians lasting for

not violence and oppression. Christianity is no good either, but between
Christianity and Islam, I'd say that Christianity is the lesser of two evils.

mutation on the human gene in each generation to have a huge accumulative
effect over 100,000 generations. The evolution of human genes over

70 years ago the great threat to humanity was Nazism and communism. Time has
changed.
Christianity has been very violent and oppressive. That's why I said both
Christianity and Islam were evil. However looking at world today I'd say
that Christianity ended up being the less evil one of the two.

books myself. My wife on the other hand has studied them (histories of
religions) extensively. She was brought up in a deeply Christian family and
now she has turned completely against Christianity because of what she
learned.
