Super safe if you live in a good (and expensive) area. You might see a few
homeless people roaming the street of UTC or downtown. But they might not
be the bad guys at all. In Carmel Valley there is no homeless, in part
because there is no public transit access point therein. Thefts are
reported in all areas and some of them might be committed by teenagers who
have too much energy or free time to do anything constructive. By and large
I would rate San Diego as a safe place to live and raise
