Housing Prices
House pricing varies based on where you want to live. For rental, my
experience is from $600 (multiple people share rooms in same condo), to
typical $1200 for single, to roughly $2400 for a 3 bed room townhouse at UTC
area.
Again, if you want to buy, you can find that info online, but don’t forget
homeowner fees or Mello-Roos assessments. Those are high in some areas.
Gas & Electric
This is high everywhere… if you cannot afford it, a good thing about San
Diego is you can ride a bike all year long. The weather is perfect.
Food
Food is reasonable. Plenty of organic food if you like that.
Sales Tax
Sales tax is currently 8.75%.
State Income Tax
State income tax varies from zero to about 9.5% based on your income.
Recreation
This can be either $0 (if you are really a boring person) or pretty expense
if you are into Biking, surfing, diving, deep sea fishing, etc etc. | O***n

good as the person put in it. there might be higher paied Staff SW Engineer
II, but they never respond to these survey. as far as I know, the data is
updated on 5/31/2011, and I do know some Staff SW engineer (not sure about
the level) is paid at about 140K before bonus.

in some companies, staff engineer is also called principal engineer. and in
some companies, there is no formal "senior engineer"; only engineer with
different grades. so the job title on glassdoor is not very accurate (vs
internal title or job grade) anyway but is a good reference.
QC international business travel is all business class, big plus vs many
