Background and Event Summary
Founded in 1996, Kelun Group has developed into a modern pharmaceutical
group, with 87 subsidiaries (branches) throughout China. Kelun Group sales
revenues in 2013 exceeded RMB 35 billion, and profit tax was over RMB 2
billion. Kelun Pharmaceutical Research Institute (Chengdu) is the research
and development (R&D) organization of Kelun Group and it is specialized in
research of chemical and biotech drugs including anti-tumor, antiviral,
nervous system disease, diabetes-therapy drugs, and special drugs suitable
for company development.
In order to effectively allocate domestic and international resources and
strike a balance on innovation and generic drugs, Kelun will establish a
network-type R&D structure, with Chengdu site as the center, Tianjin and
Suzhou sites as support, and overseas subsidiaries and external
collaborations as supplement. The “3-engine” R&D program will position
the company as one of the best biomedical research institutes in China with
equal emphasis on IV and non-IV products.
Dr. Jingyi Wang will share with you about his thoughts on Kelun's new R&D
strategy as well as Kelun's future collaboration plans with its
international counterparts.
