ormer Alaska Senator Ted Stevens died after a plane carrying him and eight
others crashed in a remote area of Alaska Monday night, a family spokesman
said Tuesday.
Mitch Rose, who served as the former senator's chief of staff, said Mr.
Stevens's family has been notified of the death. Mr. Stevens was 86.
Five of the people on the single-engine Otter turboprop were confirmed dead
