SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KGO) -- Bay Area tech leaders are
getting set to welcome President Obama tonight. They're having dinner with
him as part of his plan to spotlight education and innovation.
This will be a quick 24 hour trip for President Obama. He'll be flying into
the Bay Area on Air Force One Thursday afternoon to attend an intimate
dinner at a private location with Bay Area high tech executives. The White
House has not released the official guest list yet. But there are reports
they include Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Eric Schmidt as
well as the heads of Apple, Cisco, and Intel.
These are many of the same executives that met with President Obama in
Washington, back in December to discuss job creation. This trip will also be
focusing on jobs, as well as innovation and education. It's not a
fundraising trip, like many of his previous visits.
Obama's last visit to the Bay Area, back in October, included a $30,000 a-
head political fundraiser at the Palo Alto home of Google's vice president.
This is the president's eighth official visit to California.
He will spend the night in the Bay Area tonight, and tomorrow he'll head for
Intel's main headquarters, just outside of Portland, Oregon. He'll discuss
the company's educational programs, which focus on science, engineering and
math, to help Americans prepare for well-paying jobs.
