Consulate about 1:20PM. There was a long line outside. By 2:30PM we finally
got into the building. Please be sure to add enough minutes to parking meter
before 3PM, after which you are no longer allowed to get back in for any
reason. At 3PM, the door was closed and the security guard separated the
people already inside into two lines based on the ticket number you got when
entering the door, one for Chinese Passports and one for Chinese Visas. One
reminder for those renewing passports for their old parents: Be sure to
bring the passport holder's California ID/Driver License or any mail piece
to prove the residence in this state. Otherwise, the renewal can be rejected
. As for photos, it is a hit-and-miss thing. You can try your best to DIY
the photos, but in the end it's the officer's arbitrary judgement on if you
need to pay extra 10 bucks to take new photos on the spot. We got done by 4
actual processing. The new passport shows processing date far in advance of
the pickup date shown on that website or the pickup slip. If you want the
passport to be mailed back, be sure to bring $60 money order ($55 for
passport and $5 for handling) and prepaid USPS envelops (priority/express).
NO CASH TAKEN EVEN IF IN PERSON. |
