I will relocate to Bay Area next month from Texas, company is located in
redwood city ( non-oracle, just in case you wonder ), I have wife and 2 kids
( one is less than 2 and one is about 5, so I need en-roll him to school
soon ). We plan to spent $2000-2500 on house/apartment rental, my
requirement is
* one hour driving distance is OK with me, but closer is better.
* prefer 3-bedroom unit, but at least 2 bedroom.
* good, but not necessary top school distinct for elementary school.
My questions are:
* Is it realistic to find 3-bedroom with less than 2500 within area such as
Mountain View
* If I prefer house, how bad it is to driving from San Jose North/South to
RedWood city ( Maps only show 30 minutes, but I doubted it ), are these area
good school distinct ?
* what school distinct fall into my "good" ( means 70% above ) standard. | t******x

How about a bit far south such as Sunnyvale, Milpitas or Santa Clara ?
I heard Fremont is also good distinct, worthy to cross the bridge ?
sorry for keeping asking. Has been a redneck since landing in US, so few
friends in bay area.

You can find school by address, if you already have some places in mind.
Or, you can first search school by API score, (in advanced search), then

Both have good school, close to redwood city and nice community.

know if 2000-2500 can get a 3-bed or 2-bed in these community ?

One thing you mentioned in your blog is that API > 900 is "good" school. I
searched redwood city, look like the results found school mostly >800 and <
900.
Do you have general sense what is "850" elementary school would be ?

neighborhood school in foster city. This year.. you need to confirm with
school before school year is end (better do it on early June).

One of my friend said the rental in Bay Area is really hot, if you hesitate
a bit, the chance is gone. What's your opinion ?

What I can do if school year is end when I finally find a rental ?

I used to live there (until last month). I work for Oracle.
When I lived in Ardenwood, I left my house at 8:45 in the morning and it
usually took me 25 minutes to get to Oracle.
In the afternoon, I left Oracle at 5:00, the afternoon traffic is worse
though I never missed once picking up my kids at 6:00 PM from his preschool
at Little Flower Montessori. But I did notice the afternoon traffic is
getting worse recently, probably due to more and more people moving into
these area.
I just rented my house, a small single family 3/2 for $1950. You sound like
a ideal candidate, but too late for me :(
When you look for houses, please:
1) Make sure the house is indeed Ardenwood Elementary. The Forest Park
Elementary has a much longer waiting list. and other schools are probably
not good enough for you.
2) if you want to enroll your son into kinder this year, he would be put in
the waiting list, not sure how long is the wait, if he enrolls next year, he
has 90% of chance to get into, still 10% of chance in waiting list.
