with Japanese core.
Movado is about in the price range and good for women. For men, Rado （雷
达） is
the modern style, Longines （浪琴） is the traditional style.
500~1500 is indeed an awkward price range.

where is the good place to buy? does any reliable online place sell these?
I don't want to pay another 8% sale tax.
also just by looks, are these more expensive watches looking much better
than a high-end Seiko? or the higher price just buy a brand name? |

top tier includes rolex, Patek Philippe, omega -- $1500 is not enough
longines tag heuer etc are tier 1.5, with $1500 you get their low end
products

end longines tag heuer by looks?
I found some high-end Seiko selling for around $1000.

You can find an authorized dealer if you do not trust Amazon.
I think I saw Tag Heuer in Costco once. I normally trust Costco.

High-end ones are normally mechanic, not quartz.
Quartz is actually better for time-keeping, but Swiss watch industry
somehow persuaded people to believe the lower-tech mechanic solution
as a upper class, for the sake of craftsmanship.
