After 25 years on the air, NPR's chatty Car Talk duo are finally putting on
the brakes.
READ: Their note to listeners.
Tom Magliozzi, 74, and his brother, Ray, 63, announced today that they will
stop making episodes of Car Talk at the end of September, NPR says in a
statement.
The Saturday morning chat show about cars features the real-life Boston
mechanics bantering about automobiles, car repairs or whatever else is on
their mind.
"My brother has always been 'work-averse,' " says Ray, 63, in explaining the
move. "Now, apparently, even the one hour a week is killing him!"
"It's brutal!" Tom adds.
NPR says in a statement that it will "actively produce new shows built from
the best of its 25 years of material – more than 1,200 shows – with some
updates from the brothers." | t**o 发帖数: 620 | 2 Really? Don't know Tom already 74!
