and harm. The Oct 16 Jimmy Kimmel Show on ABC is feeding toxic messages to
our innocent children. It is teaching kids it is okay to be violent and to
be hateful. Should we allow Jimmy Kimmel/ABC do this to our children?
I have written a letter to all the parents in my daughter's kindergarten
class (see below). If you want to protect your children from harmful
messages, write to your fellow parents and tell them we won't accept and
tolerate Jimmy Kimmel and ABC's attempt to harm our children.
Dear parents
This is XXXX, XXXX's Dad. I wish I were writing to you to report that we
have raised enough money for our kids’ kindergarten activity fund. I wish
I were writing to you to report that we have arranged free transportation
service for our kids’ next trip to the zoo. I wish I were writing to you
about some new books donated by a local educational foundation. I wish I
were writing to you about all those wonderful things. However, today I am
writing to you as a deeply concerned parent. I am writing to you on a
matter that is far more serious than class budget, children’s books, and
field trips.
As some of you may know, on Oct 16, 2013, ABC aired Jimmy Kimmel's show in
which a boy said "Kill everyone in China" to solve our national debt problem
, to which Mr. Kimmel responded "that's an interesting idea!" Several
minutes later, Mr. Kimmel again asked the kids "Should we allow the Chinese
to live?" You can see the video at the link below.

As parents, we teach our kids to be nice, to share, to wait for their turn,
to hold hands and most importantly, to love. Yet, Jimmy Kimmel has the
audacity to teach our innocent children violence, killing, and hatred, and
ABC network condones such hideous activity by airing it on national
television!
As parents, would we ever tell our 6-year-old "that's an interesting idea"
when he mentions that he wants to kill someone? Would we ever say to our 6-
year-olds things like “Should we allow your classmates to live?” or “
Should we allow your teachers to live?” We spend so much time, energy,
and effort to love our children and to shield them from harm, why would we
allow Jimmy Kimmel and ABC, using comedy as a disguise, to plant violence
and hatred into our kids’ innocent yet ever-absorbing minds?
Isn’t there too much shooting and killing in our society already?
How many more Sandy Hooks have to happen before we finally say enough is
enough!
Winston Churchill once said “We can always count on the Americans to do the
right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities”.
Well, fortunately, Churchill was right. People are taking action to stop
Jimmy Kimmel and ABC from using innocent children to promote violence and
hatred, this is happening at the individual, local and national level.
For example, here is a link of a youtube video posted by an individual named
Joe King condemning Jimmy Kimmel and ABC.

At the local level, San Jose Councilmember Kansen Chu (representing our very
own district 4) sponsored a rally against violence and hatred in San Jose
City Hall on Friday, November 1 at 2PM. He also started a petition at
change.org. At the rally last Friday, he said he would go to LA and seek a
dialogue with Jimmy Kimmel and ABC if 10000 people signed his petition (
currently 3475 signatures). You can find his petition at the link below.

Another local leader who spoke up against Jimmy Kimmel and ABC is Reverend
Jethrone Moore. Reverend Moore is the president of the NAACP San Jose
chapter and serves on the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards
and Training. You can find his speech at the following link.

On the national level, there is a petition circulating at whitehouse.gov
calling for an investigation of Jimmy Kimmel and ABC (currently 93819
signatures) . You can find it at the link below.

The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus has issued statements
denouncing Jimmy Kimmel and ABC, you can find it at the following link.

Congresswomen Judy Chu, Grace Meng and Congressman Mike Honda have written a
letter to Paul Lee, President of ABC Entertainment Group to express their
“grave concern” over Jimmy Kimmel’s show, you can find it at the
following link.

As you can see from the numerous links above, the public is taking action to
stop the toxic messages from Jimmy Kimmel and ABC. As caring and
responsible parents, we need to let our voice be heard as well. It is time
to tell Jimmy Kimmel and ABC that we will not tolerate and accept their
attempt to hurt our children.
After all, our kids are too young to have a voice of their own. If we, as
parents, don’t speak up for them, then who will? |
