In those 180 days, the teachers take off 3:00PM which means they worked much
less than 8 hours a day.
Almost all engineers work over 8 hours per day. Most overtime withou
additional pay.
Teachers have pensions, with the trick of OT and PTO in the last service
year. The teachers received > 100% of their base salary for over 20 years
after retirement.
Their average yearly salary was just published. It is over 98K for working
half of the hours as the engineers.
Most engineers could not beat the teachers' hourly rate.

Teachers have a lot more works to do outside of their billable working hours
, such as lecture preparation, homework correction, parents communication,
and
some other school administrative works.
I know this because my cousin is a teacher and a good friend of mine is
a teacher too.
Yes they get the summer off, thats probably the only perk.
