If you are residing in Cupertino Union School District or Fremont Union High
School District, this is extremely important to you!
Call to every one to attend the Cupertino City Council meeting tonight (Nov.
10) at 6:45pm City Hall Community Hall in Cupertino.
Cupertino city is evaluating a proposal of adding 4000 apartment units, if
this proposal is approved by the Cupertino City Council, both CUSD and FUHSD
Districts will be negatively impacted, resulting in bigger number of
students per teacher at school, lowering quality of school performance,
worsening the traffic, overcrowding of recreational access like fields,
sports etc.
If you want to oppose this proposal, you just need to spend one night out of
your life by attending the Cupertino City Council at 6:45pm November 10.
The City Council will feel the pressure only if they see people filling the
meeting hall who are supporting the community with less new apartments, less
impact to Cupertino High School, Hyde Middle School and Sedgwick Elementary
Schools.
Please help forward this to all parent groups or resident groups that you

Special Cupertino City Council Community Workshop - School Traffic Safety
Thursday, November 6, 7:00 pm
Quinlan Community Center
As you might be aware a high school student from Monta Vista was killed
biking to school last week. Understandably there has been a lot of
discussion within the community about this tragedy. In response the City of
Cupertino will be holding a community workshop tomorrow evening. At this
workshop, the community is invited to participate in a discussion regarding

Cupertino City Council Public Hearing - Impact of New Residiential
Developments

Next week the city is holding a public hearing regarding the impact of
allowing 1,800 new apartments to be developed in the Wolfe/Miller Stevens
Creek corridor which are all within the Hyde Middle School and Cupertino
High School attendance areas. The City Council will consider amendments to
the General Plan, including the Housing Element and Heart of the City
Specific Plan, and Municipal Code Amendments to conform with the General

Ways to Stay Informed on Local Issues
To learn and hear more about these community discussions you can subscribe

shared among members. If you join these communities you will be able to
catch up on more information and what has been discussed among parents

It is ok to attend these meetings even if you don't live in Cupertino. CUSD
Hyde Middle School and FUHSD Cupertino High School are located in Cupertino
hence decisions on traffic and housing will impact out of city residents
Other parents within the district have set up petitions online adressing
these issues: traffic safety, 2nd traffic safety petition and the housing
rezoning amendment plans
The PTSA does not offer any views on these topics but hopes to help keep the
community informed of local school related news and events.

In response to the incident this week, the Cupertino City Council will be
holding a community workshop on Thursday, November 6, 7:00 pm, at the
Quinlan Community Center, Cupertino Room, 10185 N Stelling Road, Cupertino,
CA 95014.
Cupertino has a tradition of coming together as a community to solve
difficult problems. This week's events are a tragic reminder of our need to
come together once again.
At this workshop, the community is invited to participate in a discussion
regarding traffic safety around schools.
All residents are encouraged to bring their thoughts and ideas to this
community event.

Amendments to conform with the General Plan. The ordinances involve Below
Market Rate Housing, Density Bonuses, Parkland Dedications, and zoning
changes to conform to the new General Plan. Council will also consider
certification of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for these items. The
meeting will be held at the Cupertino Community Hall located at 10350 Torre
Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014 (next to the library). The City encourages
everyone to participate in these matters of significant importance to
Cupertino.
During this hearing, the Council will consider all types of Citywide
development policies and parameters, including heights, densities, land uses
, commercial, office, and residential, including properties within the Heart
of the City, Homestead, North Vallco, North De Anza, South De Anza, South
Vallco Special Areas and the Vallco Shopping District. The Council will also
consider prioritizing properties for housing to send to the State of

1. 这是2014-2040年间的规划。
2. 4400间新的apartment
3. 主要建在新的Main Street 和vallco shopping mall附近及oak shopping center
（De Anza college)对面。
4. 没说是给低收入建的。感觉上是给Apple 建的。
5. 加州法律规定不可以以学校为由否定城市规划。（在Cupertino 对大家的建议答复
中提到）因为无论是建商还是租客都要交school fee或地税。
6. 就学校而言，Cupertino high和hyde 影响较大。

举后，通过之后选民就对council 没
办法了，一定要在选举前要候选人对这个project的看法，支持反对表态不能含糊，哪

rezoning, last year. At first the city council passed unanimously. But the
residents raised lots a protest and forced it into a vote. Finally residents
won by >1000 votes.
If you google, you can find the 200+ letters to the city concil against the
rezoning. They were passionate yet rational. Could be a very good example
for residents from other cities, in case you need it.

That includes around 700 units at Hamptons Apt area (Santa Clara SD), I
think?
That should be good enough for 10-20 years of planning.
City can always add new units if there is really a need and can be sure it
is sustainable. Adding 4400 new units along with new main street plus new
Apple campus spaceship, is overloading the community. |
