it.
My family have visited several Challenger. I just could not imagine that
someone think Challenger is worth the while to attend.
I agree that these schools might give kids good academic score. Others? I
fully doubt. There is no significant difference between Challenger and most
of the old fashioned schools in mainland China.
Just my two cents.
Before we start, we should really ask for ourselves what are the most
important
knowledge, skills that our kids need to survive and live happily. Life's
ultimate goal in my family is happiness. If you have different opinion, you
might not like to read my post further.
The most important and the first skill is to come to know oneself. This
could not be achieved by reading book after book. Human has emotion and
feeling. And you have to interact with others and use others to reflect on
your own. Elementary schools are for children to learn to recognize emotion
of human in a group. Learn to understand the happiness of building
relationship with fellows. Adult guidance is a must not just for naughty
kids who bully but also to teach other kids how to defend themselves.
Challenger is obvious not teaching kids anything like this. It might teach
kids to read fluently or to do sharing time fluently. However, they
emphasize
so much about the "talking" instead of the "sharing' part. The true mean of
these activity is not about score but the sharing, enjoying, interacting.
Honestly, Challenger emphasize the talking. when they praise the kid, they
praise the kids because they did a job in presenting instead of sharing.
Without this foundation, kids really could grow into test machine instead of
a person with full personality who wants to pursue and know how to pursue
one's happiness.
Second topic is about Art and music is almost non-exist in Challenger. For
my family, especially for girls, I do not think this is any good. Art and
music touch human hearts. It is an important venue to express one's feeling.
They are also important ways for kids to express themselves. Challenger is
so bad at these.
PE class is bad. There isn't much extra that is offered. The kids in the
preschool are talking bad words and teachers just ignore them and did not
intervene.
Sure, I want my kid to know good manner as well.
All in all, my LD and I do not like Challenger. |

other post.
I do not like it though. it is like force feeding ducks.
I want my kid to grow up knowing the meaning of life, with good manner,
appreciate arts and music, enjoy life.
Challenger is not my cup of tea.

There are indeed other schools in the bay area.
No matter how well you spell. That is not going to make you win in the PK.

NO.
Challenger kids got even better arts and music and PE, of course NOT in
school. They play in different group, league, taught by experts.

It is not the sunnyvale one, which 100% indian, it is in strawberry park.

these additional class to your kid.
There are schools who include art, music and PE class in the curriculum in
the afterschool program.
I am not talking about public schools. They are kind of free or cheap. So
you get what you pay for. However, Challenger is not the type of school that
could help us to achieve the education propose.

included in the curriculum. Tuition is similar to Stratford.
My LD passed this one because it is far from home. The traffic is not
suitable to us.

specialized class??
Do not get me wrong, there are good PE, ART, computer programs at school.
Kids like it, but they still go to piano, basketball etc classes out of the
school.
I am not a big fan of challenger but not for the reasons you mentioned. Most
kids there like school, they are good friends, they want endless play dates
, which is a headache for me now.

发帖数: 372 | 19 I like the part that challenger encourages kids talking and expressing
themselves well. I think that's something we missed in our education. Every
Monday they have show and tell activity. My kid is very shy and self-
conscious. But she has no problem to speak in front of lots of people.
As to arts/music, I don't know how high you expect from school. Everyday,
she brings back the papers with her drawing. She loves drawing at home too.
She also sings a lot of challenge songs at home.
But I agree there might be less interaction between kids. She has more close
friends in her previous school than in challenger.

再说了，challenger 能干的，好区public school也能干。实在不明白为什么要送过去。
已经这么忙，花钱就是要图个省心省事。你还要自已四处安排活动。
