I suspected the novel was written during the cold war era with the world war
seemed imminent, the author felt very pessimistic about the future of
humanity. He thought human were bound to self-destruction because the evil in
people. Even the good people didn't deserve to be happy because there were
just so much evil among us. However, he wanted a solution for the human kind.
That's why he imagined some organic, well-intentioned being, keeper in the
