This estimation is really a very nice approximation due to
the tiny vertical movement of air in large scale compared with the
horizontal movement (vertical movenment around cm/s, and horizotan 10m/s
for typical synoptic scale). The physics principle
of this estimation is simple, hydrostatic approximation,
gravity is balanced by buoyance since no vertical acceleration.
