霍金. 他老人家瘦弱的身体斜靠在轮椅上,照例是那副大智若愚的神
情.轮椅的左扶手上立着他的商标 --- 一架专门为他设计的计算机.
除了推轮椅的护士,还有两个随行人员.在涌动的游客当中(他们更熟
悉 E.T., John Wayne,Madonna),他们显得很不起眼.
只可惜当时毫无思想准备,等清醒过来之后,一行人已经走远了.唉,怎
么也应该上前表达一下敬意才对.爱因斯坦咱没赶上,霍金又眼睁睁地
从眼前溜走乐. Sign again. | e******n

is my idol. Hawking is a good physicist, but not comparable
to Einstein. I feel very sorry for Hawking. When he came to
give a talk in Harvard, people just went to see him as a
unique creature, and were only interested in his life, but
not his idea. Ed Witten is as good a physicist as Hawking,
but even many people in Caltech don't know he's there, but I
bet many people will go to see Hawking, again as a creature,
not a physicist.

interesting? I thought most people know that Einstein is the
greatest physicist, but Hawking is a physicist with a rare
disease. Some people need living idols, but probably not
Hawking. It's kind of sick and immoral to go to see Hawking
as a creature.

him as an outstanding physicist, and as a person, I just
treat him as a normal disabled one. I beleive it would be
the best way to respect disabled people if we just treat
them as everyone else.
Maybe you are right that general public get interest in him
just because he got a rare desease. But I think many people
in physics don't think that way.
By the way, there would be a symposium at Caltech to
celebrate

more credit than he deserve because ....
