The first person who proposed greenhouse gases effect
is Arrhenius, 1896. That famous chemist had a paper in a
Swedish Journal, I once read it. His approache to prove it
is quite intellegent.
Hawaii Mauna Loa CO2 monthly curve since 1955 is a
famous viewgraph for demonstrating greenhouse gases effect.
For modeling, the classical paper is from Hansen, 1988.
That show if doubling Co2, how many degree the surface temperature
will increase
