It is with great sadness that we share the news that Ian Rothwell, Professor
and Head of the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University, was killed early
Sunday morning, May 9th, in an single vehicle automobile accident in Newton
County, Indiana. Ian's tragic and untimely death is a great loss not only for
Purdue University, but also for the entire inorganic community. He was a great
scientist and colleague who was very active in the Division of Inorganic
