usually the recommendation letter is always good. doesn't matter much

All the others can only bring you some on-campus interviews. Then only your
job talk and interview count.
the most important factor is that you better be in a popular area. Here is my
ranking.
1, your research area
2, job talk
3, interview, chemistry
4, school's reputation, reputation of your advisor
5, research statement
6, publication list

The most critical part of the applying a faculty position is that you need to
make it to the short list, ie, how you can be one of the 5 names that people
pick out of a few hundred applicants. So in the order of importance:
1. If you have N science/nature/PRL(or Cell or other top journal in your
discipline) papers (where N>3), then most likely you'll be the top candidate
of the year and you'll get interviews everywhere, pro
