面试的职位是：Senior Software Engineer @ CloudFront Security Team
2轮店面，with Hiring Manager + Principle Software Engineer.
当时他们都表现的挺喜欢我的，直接说See you in Seattle.
星期一Onsite， interview with 6 engineers.
我还是觉得自己每一轮都打得很好，其中有一位工程师，还说他喜欢我的code.
但不知道问什么我还在周六下午，收到了据信。。。太让我伤心了。。。
我实在想不出原因。。又查了一下job description:
Amazon Web Services is looking for a senior software engineer to join our
network security systems team. Our projects include massively scaleable
distributed systems that provide inexpensive, reliable, global
infrastructure services. This is an opportunity to join a world class team
and build the network security tools we use to support AWS offerings such as
EC2, S3, CloudFront, and SimpleDB.

centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but also

我就是一个Fresh PHD, 我没有什么5-10年的工作经验，自己在OOdesign也不是什么
expert.
真地是经验的问题么，从job description上我确实不靠铺，但他们问什么还让我
interview. 可是
我还是觉得自己的onsite的technical questions + coding都打得不错啊，他们也没指
出什么问
题啊，到底哪里出了问题，好痛苦啊，，，

Google和Amazon现在都很拽，比MS面试难多了。MS本地都很难抢到人了，只能从印度，
中国转。

他们面有工作经验的人也面代码么？我认识一个朋友做了好几年vendor，转FTE的时候
就没有问代码。

级别不是问题，fresh PhD正常情况下是拿不到senior SDE的，但是根据表现也可能给S
DE I或者II。被拒的原因应该还是面试的表现，或者有更好的候选人。move on吧

我觉得以你一个fresh PHD，没有任何工作经验的，不知道为什么给你面senior，有说
你的职位的level么？如果title就是senior SE，你应该和recruiter问问，个人以为你
绝对不可能拿到senior SE offer的除非你发明了什么语言特别特别nb之类的。。。

如果这可以让你感觉好一点的话，EC2那边的oncall很重的，你说的这个组可能更重，所
以不去可能对你也是好事

拿不到offer不一定是你错了，不合适而已。刚找工作的时候都为interview纠结，慢慢
就会发现被据的理由可以是：
1。长得不好看
2。长得太好看
3。嘴巴不甜
4。嘴巴太甜
5。Interviewer今天走神了
6。Interviewer昨晚上被lp骂了
。。。。。。
总之move on就对了。

首先你面senior position不等于你最后能拿到senior position，我觉得对fresh还是很
难的，设想你未来team里打拼多年的SDE II们看到你进来就senior作何感想？
一般的team有opening的话只要是好的candidate话都会要的
你可以问问据的原因，虽然通常也不会告诉你
有时候也不一定是你自己的原因，比如他们确实想要experience的，而且headcount有限
，HM纠结再三还是放弃你了

I am wondering why all the companies give me senior postions to interview?
But I know most of my friends just interview with mid-level or junior
positions. Should I tell thefuture companies "Please don't give me senior
positions, I just want to mid-level one"

Cloud is the future, and will have tremendous growth for at least the next
10 years. If you are not in the cloud or mobile space one way or another in
these 10 years, you will not have a growing career. whatever you do (OS, DB,
Security, Enterprise Software or Consumer Electronics), do something related
to these two. Desktop and On-Premise work are like landline business of
the phone
companies, stay away from them as far as possible if you could.

Cloud is my huge interest. But so unfortunately, I just blew off two
opportunities this week...
One is with Akamai, senior performance engineer. No coding/algorithm/data
structure quesions, just open design/networking questions. I feel I did a
good job, and it seemed that everyone likes me. The result turned out bad...
The half of people in their team are from top phd programs, like cmu,
gatech... I don;t feel that bad, and it sounds so hard to get into..
2 weeks later, Amazon interviewed me with similar position, but I still
screw it up without any obvious reason.. Just made me feel extremely bad...
I will work on Saleforce.. I just don't believe I cannot find a job related
with Cloud..

I am easily getting very relaxing during interviews as time goes.. Sometimes

I can't give you any specific suggestions as I don't really know you well.
My generic suggestion is:
1) practice your technical questions on white board every day
2) practice your behavior with a friend or some random person everyday and
ask for candid feedback.
Interviewers are good at catching signs of behavior misfit.

agree. if the interviewer is good, it will be hard to tell if he/she will
recommend hire or not.

The interviewer said "See you in Seattle!" in the end of my second phone
interview. I think he likes me, since Amazon decided to fly me out in the
second day. I met him during my onsite interview. He told me in the
beginning
that he was the person on the phone with me. He seemed to be very supportive
during the whole interview:S I feel he is nice guy.. But sometime, I feel
everyone, not just interviewers, is nice.

The only problem for me is I am currently studying in Mid-west. Few

That's so true. My hiring manage asked me one question and then handed out

name card to me without my asking. After interview, he even told my friend(

also worked for the same company) that" flydog is very energetic girl." In
the end, he still didn't take me :(

confidence is good, but it doesnt mean a success. maybe one of you
candidates is a mit phd with 10 years of working experience.

有时候就是有更合适的人而已，不一定非要你犯了什么错。也许他们又面了一个相关领
域好多年经验的，就算你面试再好，肯定也是争不过别人的。

再说年底了，经常有变数的，什么funding review啦，headcount freeze啦，所以我最
不喜欢年底找工作了。

我觉得给你面谈并不一定要给senior position,但是确实对你的back ground有兴趣.谈
完之后如果合适,会给你一个合适的职位.所以没有offer,还是面谈没谈好.
