从这个角度讲，头七家MS store避开了NY和硅谷，的确是显出有些保守和底气不足。
估计高层里面对这件事也有争议和保留，希望先拣软柿子捏，见好了再说。呵呵

everywhere except in WA.
Except Kinect, what else do you want to check in msft store?

事实上好像从来没有一家软件公司开retail store的，甚至硬件公司像HP，Dell，
Nintendo等等都没有自己的store。可见开零售店并不一定是赚钱的买卖。 |

xbox and kinect, I consider they're comparable to apple's iphone, macbook
air and ipod.
remember for consumer market, it's not black and white. It's not a diaster
appl store attracts more eyeball, if you look at this year what MSFT has
done for the consumers, it's definite HUGE. and creating these ms stores
is another good move too

For Apple, many stores are there for quite a while and more and more
customers are going there. For Msft stores, why do I go there? you can
easily find Kinect, windows 7 phones, etc... in other electronics store.
Yes, Msft has done *something* this year (I cannot agree with word *huge*),
but only for some specific products...
btw, I will buy w W7P since I need to read and edit emails with office docs
in them; but still, I can get W7P from other places...

MS Store的主要意义在于增加品牌效应。
这个效应不是在Windows和Office上的，
而是说还有很多老美不知道WP7，不知道Kinect，更没有见过Surface了。
很多人会发现MS其实也有很多值得炫的东西。
顾客不需要专门为了去MS store而去，
人家只需要在逛街的时候看到一个热闹的新开店就会进去转一圈。
既然这些年MS决定走Customer-oriented的战略，
retail-store这种噱头就是有好处的。

谁都有开头的时候。Apple也不是第一天就开300store的。
MS今年其实最重要的就是各个Market上终于进来了。
Kinect VS Wii，Move
WP7 VS iPhone，android
MS store VS apple store
这三条以前可是零产出的说，现在好歹in the game了。

stores more quickly?
这三条线上MS都是刚刚开始。
首先Kinect最大的意义就不是仅仅一个xbox附件。
WP7就不说了，好歹要两三个Release以后才好意思说成熟了。
MS Store也是一样的，这个你可以看成是MS尝试改变形象的一种手段。
对于一个曾经的主要面对business的IT公司，开retail store当然是一件跨度很大的事情了。
这个跟鼎泰丰开店还是没有可比性的。
而且就像你说的，开七家店的实际意义其实并不大，
关键是这七家店能不能Drive进一步的计划。

started 1 year ago, i was quite hopeful too. now i can bet 100$ for ms stores
will never reach its 300 milestone.

have a centralized place to showcase theproducts and concepts is a good
motivation to have the msft stores already, I dont think we will count on
them to sell a big share of our products, we're not a retailer. this is just
a way to communicate with consumers and do some marketing and branding.

Moreover, central stores make sense for AAPL since even BestBbuy doesn't
have many AAPL products. However, people can buy MSFT's products easily

are you serious? I'm not sure for all appl products, but at least for the
most popular ones, like iphone, ipad, macbook, ipod, definitely i can find
them in a lot of retail stores including bestbuy, i got my ipad and ipod
from bestbuy not from appl store.

with you now, but this itself sounds a good reason to create a microsoft
store for branding purpose. we have some coold products now, good time to
have a place to showcase them!

different models in the Apple store in Bellevue square?
btw, I am not new to appl's products. My family have MacBook Pro, 4 ipods so
far, ipod touch, however, no iphone since my fingers are too fat for it.
Oh yes, this is one thing I like W7P. W7P has improvements for fat fingers,
and I an pretty happy with it.
