Andy Rubin tweeted last night that over 300,000 Android phones are activated
daily — that’s up from 200,000 daily activations in August.
The news puts Android’s daily activations over both the iPhone and
BlackBerry, and it even surpasses Nokia’s 260,000 daily Symbian activations
(though research firm Canalys says those numbers may be closer to 325,000),
Fortune reports. Android’s daily activations also point to Google nearing
10 million Android activations a month. In comparison, Apple recently
reported that it shipped 14.1 million iPhones in its last quarter.
What’s most interesting to me is that Android’s growth is completely
organic. Since August, there hasn’t been a major Android phone release that
would have sparked an influx of new customers. That tells us that consumers
are gravitating towards the platform instead of any one flagship phone. Of
course, the fact that more low-cost Android phones (like LG’s Optimus) are
hitting the market is also good news for sales. Low-cost Android phones,
together with well-marketed high-end phones like Verizon’s Droid series,
will surely continue to push Android’s activations higher into the next

发帖数: 231 | 4 因为便宜啊。现在很多android phone都可以free拿到，比如t-mobile $39.99的voice
plan加$10的data plan可以free的拿到LG optimus，或者$50拿到mytouch 4g。
这和feature phone的价格差不多了。今年上半年在美国smartphone的销售还只占所有
phone的20% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone。恐怕到明年这个时候很大一部分都变成android phone了。
Windows phone虽然在amazon上卖1c，但是在店里要卖$200，还是没有竞争力。 | S******4

发帖数: 231 | 7 虽然我很喜欢WP7，但是我觉得MS抢用户的策略有问题。现在最便宜的data plan已经降
到$10/month，对于feature phone的用户是很有吸引力的。我猜Android抢到的用户大
部分以前用的是feature phone或者Nokia等只有简单web功能的手机。
设想一下，如果我是一个大妈，现在用着feature phone，想换个手机。如果我想换
smartphone，那么我首先想到的肯定是iphone，因为选最流行的产品总是没有错。如果
我只想换个手机，跑到at&t/verizon/t-mobile的店里，被sales说动了决定花$10/
month换一个smartphone，那我是不会愿意花$200买个windows phone的。我会拿一个
free的，比如LG optimus，或者$50的，比如moto backflip, mytouch 4g等等。
我就不明白既然Windows phone可以在Amazon上卖1cent，为什么不能在店里卖$50。那
样的话我觉得还有希望追上Android。

move with Android - Google now has about 95% of mobile search market.
But if Bing has a compelling mobile search experience (which they don't),
then OEM can easily switch to Bing as default search since Android is open.

well, they might not if they are on WP7 because the integration with Bing is
better on WP7.
so the success of WP7 is very important to MS. For Google, even if Android
fails, it will not have deadly impact on its mobile search market share,
unlesd it is losing the mobile plateforn market share to WP7.
