As you may remember, every once in a while we go to Craiglists to find more
adjunct faculty to add to our instructor pool. We have no work to offer them
right now, but I will verify that they are full-time faculty with us if
they are currently looking for work and need such verification.
With that said, later today I will be sending you a lot of resumes to review
. If you would, please tell me who you would recommend and at what rank:
Full Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or lecturer.
Although I do not hold too fast to the rule, it is normally 10 years of
teaching to be a full professor, 8 for an associate, 5 for an assistant, and
less than 5 for a lecturer appointment. Use your judgement.
A Full Professor must have an earned doctorate. To get a faculty appointment
in the Graduate School you must have a PhD.
As Dean of the Graduate School, please focus on that level. Judy Trapp is
the Dean of the Undergraduate School and she will look through the same
group for undergraduate faculy.
