You can make reading comprehension highly interesting to children by reading
stories with your child and helping her create a vivid picture (movie) of
the story in her mind. You can also enhance her observation skills by
helping her imagine what she can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch if she
were at the scene. If your child is encouraged to express her feeling toward
characters, events and issues, you’ve gotten an opportunity to understand
her mentality and attitudes. Finally, going through the reading
comprehension challenges methodically is very helpful in sharpening her mind.
The Story:
It’s very hot. An old man is asleep on the chair. A fly comes and sits on
the end of the man’s nose.
The old man has a naughty monkey. He chases the fly.
The fly comes back again and sits on the old man’s nose again. The monkey
chases it away again and again.
This happens five or six times. The monkey is very angry. He jumps up, runs
