There is no bridge over the Sauk river at one mile from Barlow Pass. Hikers
will need to assess the risks of fording based on their skills and
experience and decide whether to proceed, and if so, how. Please note that
the toilet at the end of the route near the campground has been closed
because it is full. There are no toilet facilities beyond the toilet at Haps
Hill Camp at mile 2. Please be prepared to cat hole 200 feet from water,
trail and camp. Recreation pass required at trailhead. Washington State
Discover Pass is not valid at U.S. fee areas.
NOTE* Planned CERCLA Monte Cristo mine clean-up of hazardous waste will
begin summer 2013. Multi-day closures are expected to begin after the snow
melts out in 2014. No specific closure dates available at this time.

The similar observation was reported in one of the most recent trip reports
on 8/31(also posted in the original post):

An old mining road leads hikers, bikers, backpackers and strollers to a
washed out bridge which crossed a happy River, bubbling over rocks. A few
feet further up, the trail forks ata privy and tail sign; the sign says
Walden Creek --> Do not take the right fork. Look behind the sign for the
trail to More Cristo.
A large log acts as a bridge over the river, carefully Carefully step over
the root system, there are notches cut into the far side to provide steps
down to the log. During wet weather, I can imagine this log would be
slippery.
