E*******e 发帖数: 1371 | 1 DENVER - A series of storm systems set to move over the mountains through
early next week will bring several feet of snow to all mountain areas in
Colorado. Weather forecasts show that each of the nine ski areas now open
will see significant snow.
9NEWS Meteorologist Ashton Altieri says most areas west of the Continental
Divide that are above 9,000 feet will see at least 1 to 2 feet of snow by
Tuesday.
The snow will start to fall Saturday night and will continue, at times,
through late Monday night.
The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH from Saturday
evening through Monday evening for all mountain areas west of Vail Pass. The
mountains of Summit County as well as the Winter Park and Rocky Mountain
National Park region are not under the watch but that will likely change as
the storm approaches this weekend.
Travelers should be prepared for blowing and drifting snow especially over
the mountain passes, starting late Saturday night. Roads will also quickly
become snowpacked and icy.
The westerly flow in the upper-atmosphere responsible for the snow in the
mountains will create a downsloping wind along the Front Range and,
therefore, the Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins areas will stay mainly dry.
Ashton says a few flurries are possible mainly on the west side of the metro
area on Monday but that should be the only chance for snow for the urban
corridor through the middle of next week.
It will be cold however with high temperatures dropping into the 20s and 30s
in Denver by Tuesday. And it does not look much warmer for Thanksgiving.
