发帖数: 229 | 1 Free demo day at Gunstock NH today. tried 3 volkl 2013 skis this afternoon:
RTM 77 @ 176cm sidecut 122-77-107 r=17.2m
Racetiger Speedwall @175cm GS 115/68/97 Radius: 17.5m
V-Werks @ 176cm 129-84-111
I tried on the "trigger" trail. condition is icy--one of the iciest days of
this season at Gunstock
I myself have fischer rx8 at 175cm and line prophet 100 at 179cm.
All 3 skies are so light! I cannot believe how light it is when I try them
on. All carve on icy very very well. I personally love the recetiger the
most: very quick edge to edge and never slip on any of the turns I made on
them. Also it turns effortlessly. I think I even don't have to drive it as
hard as my rx8 to carve the turns.
After demo I changed back to my rx8 and it was awful! The edge was not as
dependable. Talked with the tuning guy and was told all demo were set at 1/2
base/side angle. I am going to tune it at the demo ski shop to see how my
rx8 really work. |

发帖数: 229 | 4 came back from gunstock with icy condition again
went to a same ski shop offered the free demo in the morning and asked for a
tune. First did the "Premium Tune"
- Side Edge Belt Finished
- Base Finished with ScotchBrite Tuning Belt
- Our Race Grind structure is applied
- WaxJet Finished
Then went to gunstock and skied 3 runs. Edge was a little better but still
far from the demoed volkl skis.
Went back to the shop again and did the "Ultimate Race Tune"
- Flatten Base
- Race Structure Applied
- Base and side edge Ceramic Disc Finished
- Hand Waxed with Swix LF wax
Went to gunstock again and skied a couple of runs and it was AMAZING. Edge
is not as good as the Racetiger GS. But can hold 90% of the time. And
considering my RX8 is 6 years old, that was impressive.
$100 for the tune is a little pricey, but confidence on ice is priceless:)
Now I sorta know why 胖海绵 prefer hardpack/icy to power snows~~
BTW, volkl is awesome and I am definitely a fan now. hope to try more in the
future.
