一年之前办了个免费网站, 主要是帮助members之间做小生意, 也没这么维护. 最近
流量上去了不少, 有一些个人和小公司想在我网上做广告. 不知道我能不能把这收入当
home business? 如果以后这方面的收入增加, 必须注册公司吗? | b******h

Yes, you can include it in your personal tax return (Schedule E), most
people do that, especially when it is in early stage. Basically you can turn
most or all of your gross profits into expenses.
Even if your business income grows into a big number, you can still do it
this way, up to 1 or 10 million (don't remember the exact number). But when
you are big, it is better to do as a company from tax/liability point of

1. When your income from business becomes big, if you still include into
your individual tax return, your tax rate will be high.
2. Everybody is eyeing on your money if you have 1m. If by chance someone
decides to sue you, you may lose a year's worth of income, plus your bank
account. If you just make 10k from business, the chance that somebody sue
you is much smaller. A company gives you a layer of protection, at least
your personal bank account will not be affected.
