small shop(boutique) in chinese doesn't necessarily sound intimidating but
it might in English if you stress on how high-end or selective the products
are. You do want to market it as a premium product if it is high quality and
targeted at wealthy customers, but not explicitly put such keywords in the
name. Nordstrom , Macy's dont call themselves that. Their decor and their
merchandises speak for themselves.
If you only mean to say your merchandises are better than dollar store stuff
but really premium products, you can just call it a boutique with designer
products. If your shop is on etsy or eBay and you are trying to come up with
a tag line for the store front, hmm, you may say something like "Best-
quality things/clothes/stationary/ at a surprising reasonable price ". . | k**u
