个问题，就绿卡，现在学业阶段，有没有修过相关的课那几个问题。这是一个硕士
level的工作，我是博士生，两年前顺带拿了个统计的硕，招聘的人问我现在学业在什
么阶段，拿到硕士了吗？我说我两年前拿了个硕，但没敢说我现在正在读博。请问这种
硕士level的工作，博士学位对申请有帮助吗？以后再遇到这种情况该怎么回答？说，
我是统计博士，在这个领域是expert，你们的工作，我很在行，然后把自己狠吹一番，
有用吗？ |

发帖数: 254 | 2 Not only will a PhD not help, it may actually hurt you. With a PhD, you
have more knowledge base than a Masters. But then, you want to think from
the employer's point of view. They know that you have a PhD and you are
willing to work on a Master's level job because you want to gain experience
and you are very likely to leave after a few years. So, why would the
employer recruit you now and when you leave in a few years do the recruiting
again?

找了一份学历要求本科，但工作经验要求20年的工作，那又是怎么搞得？

will say, phd doesnt harm that much. Quite a few ppl are like that in our
company, not many though. |

interest in stat, it should be OK. But it is good to learn some information
from company. For big company, it varies between teams.

sensitive but should be very rare. In current marketing, nearly all
companies think they could hire qualified ppl with discount salary/level.
Is it possible to ask you some questions in the future?

第一当然是这个applicant的qualification,
第二就是这个人能不能和组里合得来，其实你把这一条跟每一条合起来也可以（也就是
软硬件）
第三就是这个人来了能呆多久，招个人也是很麻烦的事，经理们也怕你来了干上半年一
年发现兴趣不在这里就跳了，或者继续去读博士去了，这样他们又得继续招人。举个例
子，当年我申请的时候（统计方面的工作）我过了好几门精算考试，都写在简历上了，
我哥们（就在我申请的那组）看了一下我的简历，让我把精算考试的那部分删了，因为
HM看了可能会想，哦，原来此人的兴趣在精算，那他会不会来上班以后继续搞他的精算
考试然后跳了呢。我觉得博士在读也可能有这个效果。
第四就是你的薪水要求了，不过这一点还好，只要你不是要得太离谱，几千块钱的差别
公司应该也不会太在乎的。 |

我觉得博士学位对申请硕士level的工作没什么帮助。

发帖数: 513 | 10 我觉得phone screen我的那个人，并没看我简历，她就关心我拿到统计master了否。可
能挑简历的是一个人，phone screen的是另外一个人。我就说我两年前拿了个master，
对现在的情况没怎么提。我是full-time phd student.

发帖数: 513 | 11 我不是牛人，但不论什么问题只要我懂，都会尽力帮你。学了半天统计，越学越觉得自
己无能，统计太深奥了，什么kernel estimation，bayesian statistics，方向太多。

了那个一个博士找了一个require本科，但需要20年工作经验的例子，我觉得，你有空
可以去jobhunting版逛逛。

company I worked b4, there is one model validation team, all of team are phd
. So it is very clear there is little chance to get promotion.
Join a different team may mean more chance.
