背景，生物phd+统计master，中西部大学，两个月的非银行实习经验。申请了三个银行
，全都有onsite，两个给了offer。我申请的其他职位，都是直接拒信，连phone
interview都没有，也不知道为什么？fresh master可以多申一些银行的职位，机会可

1. 我有绿卡，但其中只有citi是需要身份的。其他的我也不是很清楚，至少C1的这个
职位是sport H1B的，如果我说的不对，大家可以纠正。
2. 我master没啥方向，和一个老板做了几个月的survival data analysis，面试很少
被问到这个。核心课程就是Stat Methods 1,2; Theory probability 1,2。
3. 银行对实习经验和以前做的project比较感兴趣，我的master是non thesis的，所以
没有论文，而且我还没有正式毕业。
4. 感觉大公司不在乎SAS的技能，C1就基本上没问过SAS的问题。onsite的时候，只有
碰到自己人的时候才会被问SAS编程，我也就实话实说。

我认为，project做过什么还有model都不重要（对于master），主要是要把它讲清楚，
我intern做的是一个工程类的project，和银行无关，用的统计也非常简单。关于
intern，面试我的大部分人问的都是behavior question。不过industrial experience
对于找非学校的工作还是挺重要的。
这只是我个人的理解，我找工作的时间也短，不一定对，希望大家轻拍。

although you could work at Capital One for maybe 2 years without sponsorship

wouldn't be able to provide it or you would leave the company and country
anyway. So, we would have invested greatly in you to interview you, hire
you, onboard you, train you, provide benefits, etc. and then you would be
leaving us after two years. I can see where this would benefit you, but I
don't see how it would benefit us. |

without getting Chinese ppl requiring H1-B sponsorship. Maybe they changed
the rule later.
Plus, reason of the high attrition rate there is mostly because their mean
culture, small team performance review curve, and frequent overtime
requirement. VISA is not a primary reason for the attrition there.
The stupid email from the 'recruiter' is so unprofessional, he didn't even
know the difference between Green Card and Citizenship. But the email is not
surprising based on their culture.

气好碰到个好老板呢。
多说一句我觉得COF的另一个问题是老板不参与面试。换句话说，你几乎一定会被安排
report给没有面试过你的人。这样的问题在于可能你跟老板一起工作并不合拍，就看运
气了。

sponsorship?
Anyway I think their culture is not so good.
Wells fargo never sponsor green card/h1b.

commercial banks
COF Alumni are everywhere, but I've never heard of another commercial bank
who treat its employees as bad as COF. A list can easily include BOA, Citi,
HSBC, Wells Fargo, Wachovia, Chase, Barclay, Union and a lot of other
smaller banks.
