工作内容：
Responsibilities:
•will be responsible for statistical analysis in projects from target
identification to proof of concept, with an emphasis on translational
medicine projects using high dimensional molecular data,
•will work as a member of interdisciplinary project teams, but also
provide consultancy and service on request for specific projects. Typical
tasks will include the design of experiments, power analysis and development
of statistical analysis plans, general exploratory data analysis and
statistical modeling (analysis of in vivo-, bioassay- and longitudinal data
in particular), analysis of high dimensional data (genetics / genomics /
proteomics experimental data), documentation and presentation of results,

•You have a PhD in Biostatistics or equivalent, with at least 2 years
of post-doc, or equivalent work experience. An experience in the
pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry is of advantage.
•You have a strong background in standard statistical analysis
methodologies. You are proficient in statistical programming with tools like
R/Bioconductor, S-Plus, SAS/JMP or SAS. You have adequate levels of IT,
data management and programming skills.
•Prior training and experience in modeling and simulation, Bayesian
statistics and epidemiology
•solid computer programming skills and experience such as WINBUG, R,
or S+ are necessary
•You are able to provide clear documentation, and enjoy team work.
•Ideally you possess some essential domain knowledge in biology and
about the standard measurement technologies (such as PCR, ELISA, microarrays
, sequencing) as well as bioinformatics tools and common annotation sources.
You need to have the ability to understand the actual requirements of
scientists (biologists and biochemists) and translate those into statistical
problem formulations, as well as to efficiently communicate results to
different target audiences.
•You are motivated to work in interdisciplinary and multi-national
teams, requiring fluent spoken English and adequate presentation skills.
•You are ready to develop into new areas and expand existing
capabilities, as well as to work independently, be flexible and efficient to
deliver on tight time lines.

bayesian (WinBUG)不是每个统计PhD 都玩的，
bioinformatics背景知识和standard measurement
technologies 又刷掉了了一大批人。

做computational biology或bioinformatics. 这样的人还是挺多的。 |

学校里混，大多会忘记其中之一 |

发帖数: 8017 | 12 我猜这样的职位对trial的要求大概没高到跟FDA打交道的程度，所以经验不是那么那么
的重要。跟biology lab合作的能力，说实话看人对实验有没有sense，人不行多两年经
验也没大用。
这么综合的人，fresh PhD里也有。问题是他们在美国不难找工作。也许国内给fresh
PhD 40万有点吸引力？

那些人到中国？就算是美国工资，那得省多少时间和精力，也值得呀。 |

发帖数: 52 | 14 你这个要找的属于飞机中的战斗机，在美国这样的人也不容易找到。Fresh的PHD或者Post Doc有技术又有实际工作经验的极少。有些要求，象“provide clear documentation, and enjoy team work.”“have the ability to understand the actual requirements of scientists”，“efficiently communicate results to different target audiences ”, “work in interdisciplinary and multi-national teams”，如果没有在业界的大公司工作过2-3年，根本不可能符合，毕竟学校和公司的研发环境差很远。哥在公司，一周开5个8个teleconferences是家常便饭，一个team八九个人，来自三四个国家五六个时区是司空见惯，你在学校如何做到这一点？ 而且公司研究讲究高效实用，好公司的研发水平其实很高，哥见过不少Fresh的PHD或者Post Doc认识不到这一点而有偏见，入职后很多不能适应角色和职能转换，搞得自己和别人都很郁闷。
不过业界有2-3年经验的人，如果做得不错（有专利/文章/奖项，跳巢/升职），一般又不愿意归，这个方向现在在美国也很热，我们有个类似的职位空了快一年了，也没招到合适的（教训：宁缺勿滥）。前面有人说工资至少一倍还有点希望，I endorse it. 当然你可以按30万找Fresh的PHD或者Post Doc，那就good luck了。

however, the requirements are radiculous, and the person who wrote the
requirement had no freaking idea what kind of candidates he wants.

1，不招新手，一定要industry经验的，越资深越好；薪酬可谈；
2，方向有2个：

三合一的statistician，做点pkpd modeling and simulation，做点bayesian
adpative design for clinical trial
三样全占的不多见，全都做得精的更加少，得看罗氏开多少钱了:)

明晰genetics/pharmacogenomics熟悉diagnostics的人如果没有身份问题就是香饽饽，
recruiter的电话不会断。
我猜写job description的人糊涂了，把各种需要堆砌在了一起，应该精简一下，比如
做Phase 1/2的具体要求什么，prefer什么，而做simulation的又要求什么知识通晓什
么平台构建过什么模型。如果仅仅要求前期临床的experience而不加入bioinfo/comp
bio的要求，这价钱倒还适中。有些知识可以后期培养，公司要求一步到位就别吝惜花
钱。

现在国内的薪酬已经没比美国低多少了。

发帖数: 9065 | 28 首先一点，有这样背景的人不是很好找，纯粹的Statistics或Biostatistics背景的未
必适合，Bioinformatics或Computational Biology还差不多。但问题这个专业本身美
国就少，而且太偏了，很不好找。
其实Fresh PhD in Statistics或Biostatistics通过一些实践也还是可以上手的，但招
人单位往往没有这个耐心，总想找现成的，所以经常是什么人都招不到。其实罗氏是个
大公司，完全可以先招一些Fresh，工资也低一些，以后就很顺手了。所以资深完全不
是一个必要条件。
