Job Summary: The OR business analyst generally provides quantitative
expertise (data analysis, statistics, forecasting, simulation, and
optimization) in the form of models, consulting, and software prototypes.
The analyst will work within IT projects in the requirements development,
design, and testing of decision support systems either in the form of
internal development or in conjunction with external vendors. In addition,
the analyst will be expected to provide analytic consulting to various
different business units. Practices safety conscious behaviors in all
operational processes and procedures.
Job Qualifications: The position requires excellent written and oral
communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills, as the position
requires constant interactions with operating departments, all levels of
management, and, occasionally, outside parties. Experience with CPLEX, SAS
and/or ARENA preferred. Working knowledge of spreadsheet software and/or
statistical packages (e.g., SAS) for developing financial models and
presentations. Broad background in quantitative analysis required as well as
a willingness to develop sophisticated understanding of corporate data and
processes. M.S. or Ph.D in transportation science, operations research,
economics, or related quantitative field required. 2-5 years experience in a
transportation field preferred.
