recommendations from a friend might help you in your after meeting time:
==========================================================
You will be in the Gaslamp District so you will have a choice of all kinds
of restaurants…they are always changing so Im not sure what is left there
but my favorite was Croce’s and it is Jim Croce’s (musician who died
tragically in plane crash) wife’s restaurant.
I will tell you the must see places:
Coronado – you can take the ferry or bus. Once you get there, there are a
few restaurants right there but you MUST go to the Hotel Del Coronado which
will require a taxi, bicycle or stay on the bus if you go by bus or catch
the local Coronado bus if you go by ferry. It is very famous and you should
have at least a drink on the outdoor patio on the ocean. Our military
planes will fly by very low as they land on the nearby base! The beach and
view of Point Loma are lovely there!
You should take the Trolley tour! It lets you get off and on at any stop
and you can take all day!! It will take you to Old Town San Diego and you
have to see that. The property has a lot of historic buildings and info
that are very interesting. The Mexican restaurant in the square is not good
, so go behind it on the back street (taylor Street) is Guadalajara and that
is the best one! The only restaurant on the main drag that is good is the
Old Town Mexican Café where the Mexican ladies make the tortillas in the
window, so if you don’t go there be sure to venture off to Gudalajaras.
Seaport Village is right next to the convention center and the Fish Market
further up on the marina is very good! Now, over by that bay a few blocks
in is Little Italy. It is one street (India St) and the best restaurant is
Trattoria Fantastica & Cafe Zucchero (they are joined together) but there
are many choices.
You have to go to Balboa Park. That’s where all the museums and zoo are
located. The grounds and Old Globe Theatre are beautiful!! There is
restaurant there called The Prado and nice for lunch!
