Here are some statistical theory problems on Casella and Berger for the
comprehensive exam preparation. Your kind help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
1. X and Y are r.vs with bivariate pdf: Pxy=y*exp(-xy); x>1, 0 find the prob (x>1/Y)
2. X and Y are continous r.vs with joint density f given by fxy=3xy, 0 x Find the prob (Y<1)
3. X and Y are jointly distributed as fxy=2*x*exp(-y), 0 E(x)=2/3, E(x^2) = 1/2, E(y)=1 E(y^2)=2, U=2*x+Y, V=Y
a) find the correlation of U and V
b) find the f(U|V)
4.Let X1....Xn be a random sample from poisson (lambda). Derive
distribution of T|X1=0, given T=X1+Sum i=2 to n Xi
