or epidemiology. Prior working experience in health economics,
pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement, modeling and simulation, or
healthcare database analysis is a plus but not required.
The emphasis of this position is on:
1) Strong interest towards economic modeling and forecasting in healthcare/
pharmaceutical/life sciences industry;
2) The ability to execute advanced modeling ideas in SAS and Excel; and
3) Fluent English communication skills in both writing and speaking is
required

Topics of Concentration:
Modeling and simulation, health economics, statistical analysis, database
analysis, burden of disease, health workforce studies, domestic and
international healthcare policy
Key Responsibilities:
• Based on model specifications, implement health economics models
using advanced modeling techniques (microsimulation, discrete event
simulation, Markov modeling, etc.) in SAS and Excel.
• Validate, maintain, and expand the functionality of existing
economic models in SAS.
• Conduct statistical analysis on economic or clinical data using
specialized mathematical software (e.g. SAS).
• Conduct literature searches to extract model inputs and inform
the design of key model components.
• Draft project deliverables (e.g. technical reports, dossiers,
slide decks) and support project publication plans in peer reviewed journals.
• Leverage modeling knowledge and capabilities with existing client
base to support business development.
• Support staff training and development in healthcare and
pharmaceutical consulting.
Qualifications:
Overall, a candidate should be able to demonstrate a solid background in
statistics and modeling techniques (including Markov modeling and micro-
simulation), experience working with large public datasets, and experience
conducting literature reviews. Candidates also demonstrating an
understanding of pharmaceutical markets, health systems, and pricing,
reimbursement, and market access in international settings are preferable.
Degree and experience requirements:
• PhD in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, operations
research, or a related quantitative discipline; OR
• Master’s degree in the above disciplines with 2 -3 years of post
-graduate experience in a related field such as healthcare modeling or
health economics; OR
Successful candidates should demonstrate the following technical skills:
• Strong SAS programming skills – able to demonstrate familiarity
with intermediate to advanced SAS programming, including the use of macros

I am interested in the job, Economic Consultant, Life Sciences, mentioned in
your post. With over 14 years of quantitative research experience on seven
diversified projects in biology and chemistry, and systematical learning in
actuarial science and finance, I believe that I am the most suitable person
you are looking for.
I systematically learnt data analysis and statistics, and obtained program
training in SAS as an undergraduate student. Following my strong interest in
modeling and programming, I chose my PhD project on quantitative imaging
analysis. In this multidisciplinary project, I expanded and integrated my
knowledge in statistics and program development to create a MATLAB-based
platform for time series analysis and distribution modeling, and to perform
result forecasting by Monte-Carlo simulation.
I am keeping my high enthusiasm and research training in quantitative
analysis till today. As a postdoctoral research scientist at Harvard
University, I completed a series of modeling projects for statistical data
analysis (e.g. Gaussian, Gamma, Poison distribution) and simulation-based
result forecasting. Meanwhile, I am eager to use my knowledge in the field
of finance. To expand my knowledge domain, I took seven courses in finance
master degree program, and completed my master degree in management at
Harvard University Extension School. I enjoy the quantitative techniques in
financial statement analysis, as well as in the corporate finance models,
such as CAPM and WACC, for risk measurement and financial valuation. In
order to combine my mathematic skills with financial interest tightly, I
learnt and passed three actuarial exams (Probability, Financial Mathematics,
and Models for Financial Economics). I am very exciting the application of
quantitative analysis tools in finance, such as the Black-Scholes option
pricing model, the Vasicek and CIR bond price models, Itô’s lemma and
Brownian distribution, and delta-hedging in risk management.
I would appreciate the opportunity to work in the consulting field.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Best regards,
Zhangyi
