Michael Newton(a faculty of my dept) has been (will be -- depending on
timing) presented with the COPSS(the Committee of Presidents of Statistical S
ocieties)Award in Toronto.
This is a very prestigious honor since President's Award is the highest honor
to a statistician just like Fields Award to a mathematician. It is presented
