The headlines this morning have been focused on the sharp decline in
Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Survey. Results for "February" showed
a decline to 46 from the January report of 56.5. This might lead some to
believe there has been a sharp deterioration in the outlook; it has
certainly done that on Wall Street. However, as is all too often the case, I
think these headlines are misleading.
