Each A share can be converted into 1500 B shares.
Each A share has 1 voting right. Each B share has 0.0001 voting right.
Currently, A shares have total market value of 121.9B, B shares have total
market value of 88.1B.
There is no difference as to a small retail investor which share class to
buy.
There is a fundamental difference between having Buffett invest for you and
buying BRK shares. That is because the price of BRK shares already represent
rather high expectation of Buffett's future investing performance. You are
buying in the secondary market, and your money is exchanged with shares from
a selling investor. It never reaches Buffett's hand. So in the short term,
if you buy at a high point, you may lose out, even if Buffett makes money
investing. However, if your time horizon is 10 years, and Buffett lives to
90+ without getting slower at investing, then you are getting his investment
performance. That's only because BRK stock performance in the long run
reflects Buffett's superior business and investment acumen. |
