The nation's home builders haven't felt this bad about their market since
last September.
After six months of holding steady the National Association of Home Builder'
s sentiment survey fell three points in June to 13, as builders face not
only competition from distressed properties, but rising costs of materials.
Fifty is the line between positive and negative sentiment on the survey.
The costs for roofing, copper, wallboard, vinyl siding and other components
have made it extremely difficult for some home builders to construct a new
home and sell it at a price that covers those expenses.

美国已经二年没有Social security cost of living increase, because of "no
inflation"。
很多老人没有什么saving，钱都化在买药copayment.

Yes, it's not easy now. I am going to refinance my main home first. And then
I will see see if I can borrow more money for another rental property. For
last white vegetable house, I was still able to find a lender and by their
standard, I still have borrowing power.

bathroom townhouse for 130K in Cash. It is in a very nice area and it can
rent for around 1400/month(The bank put new carpet/new paint/appliance, it
was built in 2002). So my net is around $1000/month. Currently, you need to
pay 1% higher then the standard mortgage for investment properties.
Rental is a way to go, you can turn risky investment into more predictable
investment. It's very good hedge against inflation.
