13F Forensics: Research in motion
BlackBerry smartphone maker Research in Motion Ltd., which
lost nearly 25 percent of its stock value last week and more than
50 percent since March 31, was a popular addition to hedge fund
portfolios in the first quarter. Shumway Capital Partners, Sursum
Capital Management, Apex Capital, Highfields Capital Management
and Everest Capital were among funds taking new positions
in RIMM. Of the company’s 21 biggest hedge fund shareholders
listed below, only four reduced their stakes. RIMM makes up 5 percent
or more of at least four funds’ portfolios, including 16 percent
of Corriente Advisors’.
