Hugo boss is withdrawing tons of gold from U.S. and European banks. Take
this one as an example, according to CME, JPM has only 10.6 tons of
registered gold in storage. Even if we assume all 10.6 tons of gold
physically exists ( which I highly doubt), Hugo can deplete JPM with a
simple gesture to demand physical delivery of more than 10.6 tons.
This is the real thing. Philly Fed data can't account for 5.22% down today.
But again, it's OK, Hugo is a bad guy. Westerns are the good guys, and thus
don't need to cough up the real gold. They'll just toss him junk papers, and
call it "gold equivalent". If he's not happy with that, it's his problem.
Not Banks' problem. Does it hurt Bank's reputation? Well, do they have any
reputation left?
In the bigger picture, this serves as wake-up call to all the gold bugs
hoarding "paper gold". Don't think they are good safe haven against
inflation, banks can easily print out "paper gold" and thus it's inflatable.
Actually, paper gold is already "inflated". Just compare GLD to GDX, look
at the still-increasing big gap between them. Gold miners are not so
important in the ecosystem now, as Banks themselves can print gold!
Hugo must be assassinated, or silenced in one or another way. In reality,
The Emperor's New Clothes goes like this, after the stupid( or honest, these
two words means the same) kid pointed out the Emperor doesn't have anything
on, he was silenced instantly. The parade must go on, and we, the loyal
subjects of the crown, must hail the magnificent new suit. There might be a
glitch of disturbance in the force (like the 5% market down today), but the
harmony will be restored quickly. |
