September, even as three airlines saw their traffic jump by more than 11,000
passengers each in the month.
There were 674,959 passengers through Pittsburgh International Airport in
September, the Allegheny County Airport Authority said Thursday. That's down
0.4 percent compared to September 2010, but the airport is still up 3.1
percent for 2011.
Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) saw its passengers rise 10.2 percent to 125,
860 in the month and vaulted to the No. 2 airline in Pittsburgh for the
month. US Airways (NYSE: LCC) was the top airline in September with 175,
881 but was down 7.1 percent compared to a year ago. Southwest Airlines (
NYSE: LUV) was in third place with 119,108, essentially flat from a year ago.
Both Continental Airlines and American Airlines (NYSE: AMR) were up,
with Continental increasing 26 percent to 54,345 and American up 32.4
percent to 53,948. |
