University joins with Concordia Chinese Student Association to support Lin f
amily
The Concordia community is deeply saddened by the recent death of student Ju
n Lin. We are heartened by the collective response of caring and concern for
his family and friends during this difficult time. In particular, we would
like to commend the Concordia Chinese Student Association (CCSA) for its lea
dership in responding to the outpouring of offers to assist the Lin family.
Following a meeting yesterday with the CCSA and the Lin family, Concordia is
pleased to announce that we are establishing the Jun Lin Family Fund to pro
vide financial assistance for the immediate needs of the Lin family. We are
also creating the Jun Lin Award to benefit Chinese students studying at the
university.
This has been a very emotional and heartbreaking journey for the Lin family.
It is our hope that they will be comforted by the knowledge that the Jun Li
n Award will honour their son's memory, and support other Chinese students w
ho wish to pursue their academic studies at our university.
